Ana Colovic Lesoska
Senior Consultant
Ana is a biologist and environmental law expert with nearly 30 years experience in environmental protection. She established the Macedonian CSO Eko-svest in 2002 managing its transition into the organisation it is today. Ana has served on the Executive Committee and Review Committee of the Central and Eastern European Bankwatch Network, and led on several international campaigns for this environmental network.
Ana is a certified facilitator and has conducted numerous trainings on environmental topics for a wide variety of target groups. She is also a skilled analyst and researcher in the environmental protection domain and is often sought after for her knowledge of international environmental legislation, finance, and impact assessments. In 2019, in recognition of her work, Ana was awarded the Goldman Environmental Award.
Aleksandra is an expert in democratic governance, gender equality, and anti-corruption policy and practice with over 24 years experience in advising national and local political and government leaderships, institutions and civil society organizations. Aleksandra brings to projects specialist knowledge and expertise in program design, MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning) and adaptive management that helps organisations achieve sustainable and inclusive outcomes and results.
Aleksandra has led on major initiatives that have included helping establish North Macedonia’s Parliamentary Institute (Parliament’s analysis, research and support service) and the creation of the country’s first multi-party Gender Equality Task Force. She has designed and delivered programs on political leadership, political party development, advancing women’s political participation, ethical governance, and anti-corruption reforms through projects she has managed in both North Macedonia and Morocco.
Besar is an international development expert with a proven track record gained in his work with organizations such as the National Democratic Institute, USAID, the American Educational Center, and the Embassy of Japan. Besar has led programs focused on governance, accountability, public policy, and investment opportunities across the Western Balkans, where he has promoted concepts of sustainable growth through regional cooperation and citizen engagement.
Besar brings to projects expertise in political development, environmental sustainability, innovation, and capacity-building. He has designed and implemented initiatives that have driven long-term impact and strengthened democratic governance and cross-cultural exchange. Besar is the Secretary, and one of the Founders, of the CSO Strengthening Democratic Values, Three C Consulting, Skopje.
Chris is a motivational manager, international political adviser, and leadership consultant with over 40 years experience in program implementation providing expertise to clients in areas of governance, political development, inclusion, and large-scale project management. He was Senior Resident Director at the National Democratic Institute in North Macedonia for nearly 20 years, retiring in 2020.
Chris, as Director of NDI, played a pivotal part in fostering democratic reform and building strong networks and relationships with key stakeholders and post holders in parliament, government, political parties and civil society. He has, in recent years, provided partnership consultancy support for three consecutive Deputy Prime Ministers, managed projects on behalf of USAID and OSCE, and contributed to high-profile international projects in Malawi and Sudan. Chris is the Founder of the company 3C Consulting and one of the Founders of the CSO, Strengthening Democratic Values, Three C Consulting, Skopje.
David is an opinion research consultant specializing, for over 25 years, in the provision of advisory support for political, public affairs and international organizations. He has extensive experience delivering programs in challenging environments and has managed political campaigns at local, state and federal levels, and has served as a communications strategist for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
David has conducted research for labor unions, trade groups, and political candidates. Since 2001, he has worked with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in various countries, including Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Kosovo, Nepal, and North Macedonia. David is skilled in quantitative and qualitative research methods, focusing on issues such as public opinion, corruption, constitutional development and ethnic/religious inclusion. His work has influenced public policy, election campaigns, and programming for international organizations.
Earl is a former member of the U.S. Congress, serving as North Dakota’s Representative from 1993-2010, before joining the law firm of Alston & Bird as Senior Counsel, until retirement at the end of 2024. During his time in Congress Earl was an active legislator on foreign affairs issues focusing on democracy building in the Western Balkans and on global primary education, particularly girl’s education in West Africa.
Earl, prior to being an elected member of Congress, was North Dakota’s Insurance Commissioner. In 1990 he was President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). In Congress, Earl was a Member of the Ways and Means Committee, a Member of the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) and, for a time, a Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Earl travelled frequently to the Western Balkans, often in an official congressional capacity. In his work with HDP, he promoted the importance of free and fair elections and was a strong advocate for effective anti-corruption policy and practice.
Erald is an experienced consultant specializing in internal auditing, risk management, and anti-corruption practice with over 15 years expertise across various sectors, including banking and public institutions. Erald currently serves as an Audit Committee Member at UBA Bank Albania and as an International Expert on anti-corruption for the EU Support for Rule of Law program in North Macedonia.
Erald’s work has provided valuable insights into financial controls, risk mitigation, and good governance. His extensive background includes senior roles at Qatar Airways Group, Central Bank of Albania, and ProCredit Bank, where he led audits, risk assessments, and internal control improvements. Erald is one of the founders and currently the Chairman of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Albania.
Gezim has over 20 years international democracy and governance program experience with a strong focus on supporting parliaments, political parties, and civil society. Notable roles include Country Director for the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Sudan, Team Leader for NDI’s USAID funded anti corruption project in Albania and managing NDI’s Governance Program in Iraq. Gezim has provided consultancy and training services to parliaments and political parties in numerous countries on three continents.
Gezim played a major role in North Macedonia in enhancing the Assembly’s legislative, oversight, and representative functions; establishing the Parliamentary Institute; and in developing the Parliamentary Constituency Relations Network (PCRN). Gezim is an advocate for utilizing technology in program development, and has designed an upgraded E-parliament constituent communication system as well as creating platforms for political party organizing and civil society activism. Gezim is one of the Founders of the CSO Strengthening Democratic Values, Three C Consulting, Skopje.
Hristijan is an experienced international governance specialist and political practitioner with over 15 years work experience on four continents. He currently works as Chief of Party of the US based, Democracy International (DI), USAID funded, Parliamentary Support Program, in Malawi. Prior to this Hristijan served as Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Hristijan was appointed Adviser to the Prime Minister in 2017. During his five years in government, he worked with three prime ministers and four different ministerial cabinets on issues such as parliamentary affairs, NATO accession, international cooperation on good governance reforms, Afghan refugee resettlement, and the preservation and conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Ohrid Region: North Macedonia’s World Heritage Site. Hristijan has also worked on democratic and political development projects providing technical assistance to legislators, parliamentarians, political parties, and civil society in Burma/Myanmar, North Macedonia and Pakistan.
Ida is an experienced trainer, scholar, writer and practitioner in the field of international relations and diplomacy, with a focus on negotiations, mediation and conflict resolution. She is a Senior Negotiations and Conflict Resolution Advisor for PACE (Policy/Analysis Communications/Expertise), Global Strategies (USA) and Just Access (Germany), member of POINT (Program of International Negotiation Training), and a representative of the Geneva-based think tank Diplomacy Dialogue.
Ida’s professional engagements have included international organizations, NGOs, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, universities, diplomatic academies, academic institutes, unions and think tanks throughout Europe and Central Asia. She has served in capacity building teams preparing civil servants for EU Presidencies (Malta, Romania and Croatia). Ida is also a visiting professor at the International Relations Department of the University of Economics, VŠE in Prague. In 2024 she co-authored a book with the American diplomat, John Maresca.
Jovan is an experienced leader with a proven track record in government operations, international development, and policy implementation. He was Head of Cabinet at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy in North Macedonia from 2022 to 2024, and also for the Deputy Prime Minister for the Fight Against Corruption from 2020 to 2022, where, in one year, Jovan helped improve North Macedonia’s ranking on the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index, from 111th to 87th place.
Jovan led, in 2021, the creation of the country’s first National Government Anti Corruption Plan. He was selected, in 2022, for the U.S. International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and received the IVLP Impact Award in 2023 from the U.S. Department of State. He also participated in 2023 in Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs STEP program for Ministers. Lena is an international expert in anti-corruption and good governance, university teacher and author of thirty years standing. Since 1999, Lena has worked on anti-corruption reforms globally holding leading positions in several international projects in the Western Balkans and elsewhere. Her expertise has been used to support external and internal audits to combat corruption and to help in the development of policy and practice for both public and private sector anti-corruption leaderships and institutions.
Lena has collaborated with civil society organisations in developing social audit programs in high schools and in creating cultural events related to corruption. She co-authored the “Police Integrity Toolkit,” a handbook that focuses on fighting corruption within police forces, and also authored a Guidebook on Corruption Risk Assessment. Lena is a visiting lecturer at Malmö University where, in collaboration with the Swedish Institute, she contributes to the development of the university’s international courses and projects. Lena is one of the Founders of the CSO, Strengthening Democratic Values, Three C Consulting, Skopje.
Nikola is a legal expert specializing in International Law and Human Rights, and has extensive experience in the civil society sector. Nikola is currently working as a project assistant and researcher at the Center for Legal Research and Analysis (CLRA). He has previously worked with organizations such as the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” – Skopje, researching the work of the Assembly of North Macedonia.
Nikola has also worked at the Center for Refugee Law and Migration, partnering with UNHCR and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law. Nikola’s academic and work experience includes International Public Law, Human Rights Law, and Constitutional Law, focusing on minority rights, international dispute resolution and post-conflict reconciliation.
Susanne is a lecturer, trainer and mentor in leadership and communication practice with over twenty years experience of public and private sector assignments. She has been a Visiting Lecturer on Rhetoric in the Department of Communication and Media at Lund University in Sweden since 2004. Susanne has over ten years experience in institutional capacity building in the Western Balkans, where she has provided high level consultancy support and training to institutions and staff in Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia.
Susanne has, since spring 2021, served as an international expert on communication and leadership in an EU-funded project, supporting independent human rights and anti-corruption institutions in North Macedonia. Susanne is a certified leadership coach by the International Association for Coaching Institutes (ICI) and a certified trainer in Extended DISC Communicational Behavioural Styles.
Vladimir is an anti-corruption expert with over three decades of experience in public service with more than 20 years of that being in the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) in North Macedonia. As a Commissioner from 2019 to 2024, Vladimir focused on preventing and combating corruption, promoting integrity and transparency, corruption risk assessments and developing the 2021-2025 National Strategy on Prevention of Corruption and Conflicts of Interest.
Vladimir has been involved in many anti-corruption and cooperation initiatives with UNODC, GRECO and OECD. He is a member of the national delegation to GRECO and was involved as a member of several GRECO evaluation. Vladimir has authored several key publications on ethics and integrity. His experience in legal reform and policy development underscores a commitment to promoting good governance and the rule of law.
